Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this ancient green glass bottle. This artifact remains in choice condition with minor wear due to age and only a chip to the bottom and some loss to the rim that does nothing to detract. The bottle remains in solid condition and features a design on the sides which appear to be the knot of Isis in nice detail. Roman Egypt, ca. 200 A.D.

Late Ptolemaic to Early Roman, c. 1st Century BC/AD. A crème buff "Bes Head" jar, with the stylized face of the god on one side. H: 5 ½". Intact and a good example of this type. The god Bes was popular in Late Dynastic to Roman times and was noted as an ancient god of children, games and laughter.

This piece is a Roman bronze that was likely made in Alexandria, Egypt. This piece dates circa 2nd century A.D. and is a complete piece that is seen standing on a plinth. The plinth probably does go with this piece as the patina has matching deposits where the feet meet the top of the base.
