Gandharan Schist Frieze of the Death of Buddha, ca. 2nd - 3rd Century CE. Expressive relief with Buddha surrounded by grieving Acolytes and monks. At 80 years old The Buddha ate tainted food and became very sick when he lay down between two trees to die.
