Gandharan large gray Schist of Shakyamuni (the sage of the Shakya clan, another name for the historical Buddha.) Seated in lotus position on two tiered plinth. Hands in dharmachakramudra setting in motion the Wheel of Law symbolizing the teachings of Buddha. Wearing flowing robe over one shoulder tucked around his legs. N.B. Hairline crack from hands to base. Ex: Michael Longazel collection. 22" high and in very good condition.
