A Samaritan-type terracotta oil lamp excavated in the Holy Land and dated to the 3rd or 4th century AD, the late Roman or Early Byzantine Periods. The clay is an orange color and the lamp measures 8.9 cm. There is a slight cracking on the carination at the front and a small knob handle at the rear. There are no decorations and the filler-hole is surrounded by a low rim that extends around the wick-hole forming a shallow trench on the nozzle. This elegant pouring vessel might have held water olive oil or wine, thin wide handle attached to rim and shoulder, wheel made with the spout applied by hand.
The addition of an integral pouring spout, just below the lip, is an ingenious feature that allows the user to tilt the vessel only slightly in order to pour from it.
Known as the Herodian because of it was created during the Herodian Dynasty. (Circa 37 BC to 70 AD)

A Syro Palestinian-type terracotta oil lamp excavated near Jerusalem and dated ca. 4th century AD, the Late Roman or Early Byzantine Periods. The clay is a bright orange and the lamp measures 8.96 cm. There are no decorations on the article and the bottom is flat. The discus was broken to form the filler-hole and there is a knob handle. A shallow channel runs from the wick-hole to the filler-hole and shipping is free. The lamp is in excellent condition.... Click for details

For your consideration is this nice, Holyland pottery juglet. Originally used as a dipper or juglet. This piece dates from the time of David, Iron Age II (circa 930-586 BC), First Temple Period.
Measures: Height: 4.5"
Condition: Good. Handle reattached, but else nice.
Mounting stand is included with this piece.

For your consideration is this lovely, Judean pottery pyxis. Has a squat, cylindrical neck, raised and pierced lug handles and a slightly flaring mouth.
Dates to the 4th or 5th Century A.D.
Measures: 4" tall and 5" wide. Condition: Restored from sherds, but complete and nice.
