A marvelous Ica bowl from Peru, ca. 900 – 1400 AD. This beautiful polychrome vessel with flared rim is 4-1/4” high, 5-3/4” in diameter and is decorated with a pattern traditionally found in their intricate weavings. The two pairs of holes were made pre-firing, most likely to allow the pot to be suspended. In excellent condition, with good mineral deposits.
A crouching hunchback figure with knees held tight to body and hands resting on feet, scarification on shoulders, wearing a tight fitting head wrap with central crest and medallion, open mouth with teeth showing and adorned with large ear spools. Also with a bag slung over shoulder. Stable crack around left shoulder otherwise excellent and intact. 10" high Mexico Jalisco 200 BC-AD 200
Standing fattened dog, painted black except for tail and head, ears black. Alert with ears pointing forward, incised eyes and mouth, tip of left ear reattached, otherwise excellent. 14" long Mexico Colima 200 BC-AD 200
Seated with both legs straight out and arms held rigidly to sides, he wears a wrap around garment and a loin cloth, ears pierced, highly burnished overall and excellent and intact. 8 1/4" high Mexico Colima 200 BC-Ad 200
Portrait head stirrup vessel finely detail and expressive with remains of black resist line patterns on face over an overall reddish brown slip. The upright spout has been professionally reattached to the oval part, otherwise excellent. 9 3/4" high Peru Moche 300-600 AD
An excellent Nazca avian bowl from Peru, ca. 200 - 400 AD. This classic example is 6-3/4" in diameter and features four hummingbirds painted against a white background. The birds are beautifully detailed and the bowl shows strong burial deposits. One stable stress crack, else in excellent condition.
