A superb Narino pedestal bowl from the Tuza cultural complex of Colombia, ca. 1250 – 1500 AD. It is 7-1/2” in diameter, 4-1/2” high and is decorated with a pair of opposing figures, separated by characteristic net-form butterfly designs. Both are fertility motifs, with the figures representing the important male-female duality motif. In excellent condition, with strong paint and good mineral deposits.
A wonderful Jamacoaque house model from Ecuador, ca. 400 BC – 300 AD. It is 5-1/2” high, 5” long and has a gabled roof with central chimney. The roof is ornately decorated with appliqué ornaments typically seen on important shamanic vessels and figures. A nicely detailed figure is seated in the open doorway, adorned with the characteristic clothing and jewelry. A few restored breaks, but overall in excellent condition and culturally significant. ... An excellent Tairona necklace from Colombia, ca. 1000 - 1500 AD. It is 21" long and consists of beautiful carnelian beads, including bullets and large tubes, as well as a large carnelian center bead, all set off with greenstone spacer beads. Restrung on Soft Flex, with a modern gold clasp. Gorgeous and ready to wear.
