An adorable Nicoya figure from Costa Rica, ca. 500 - 800 AD. This choice Galo Polychrome example is 3-5/8” high and is depicted seated, with hands on hips. She is extensively painted to represent clothing and ritual tattoos and is adorned with ear spools and the traditional headdress. In excellent condition, with strong paint and good mineral deposits.
Mayan, Late Pre-Classic to Classic, ca. 200 BC to 200 A.D. Stemmed "macro blade" made from Colha Chert, found in northern Belize. A large and very fine example coming from the Central Mayan Empire in deep, gray mottled stone with uniface surface worked only on the top section, lower section left pretty much as it flaked off from the stone source. A beautiful greenstone necklace from Costa Rica, ca. 500 BC – 1000 AD. It consists of a 23” long strand of sea green jadeite disk beads, interspersed with several tubes. The matching triangular celt pendant is 2-1/8” long and has the characteristic septum on the backside. Lovely example.

Ca. 800-1500 A.D. Graceful, polychrome-decorated terracotta vessel having a wide central register containing two seated dignitaries with stylized feathered objects in front of each. Stepped upper border, linear border below. Tapered bulbous body having a low pedestal base. Mineral deposits on surface. 10-1/4"T. A marvelous Nicoya Polychrome tripod bowl from Costa Rica, ca. 800 - 1200 AD. This exceptional vessel is 6-1/2" in diameter and is elaborately decorated with two panels depicting finely detailed two-headed jaguars, separated by two panels representing the two-headed monster motif, an identifying characteristic of this type.
