This group of twelve stone relics and lots (LLL731R3N2B; 753M; 845U, W and X; 919; 986C; 1203C; 1209C & D; 1211E and 1214i) is made up of pieces found in the Shaft Tomb area of West Mexico during the mid-20th century by the late Lynn Langdon. Dating c.300BC-1300AD, except for one quartz figurine that is probably a replica, the stone types included are: obsidian, quartz, serpentine, greenstone, argillite, volcaniclastics, and hematite. The individual pieces and lots shown in the photos in this group of twelve (LLL731R1N2C & R3N1B; 831H & O; 839C; 844C; 846A; 918; 1207H; 1211D; and 1212A & B) represent a variety of stone artifacts from the Shaft Tomb area of West Mexico dating c.300BC-1300AD, except for one that may be a replica. This 15” x 17” shadowbox frame (AXH65) contains 66 authentic Pre-Columbian atlatl points and arrowheads all found by the late Dr. Allen Heflin in the Lake Sayula area of Jalisco, west Mexico. As is typical of points actually found in the field, a number of them have minor dings and chips, but on the whole are in good condition. Here’s another interesting arrowhead frame (AXH61) from the internationally recognized Dr. Allen Heflin collection! Made up of 137 obsidian projectile points, all found in the state of Jalisco in West Mexico, the points are mostly in very good condition with no restoration, but some do have the typical marks of usage (tip dings, small chips, roughness, etc.). This group of twelve obsidian relic lots from the well-known Lynn Langdon collection (LLL838A; 845M, O, P, T & V; 846K; 1204B; and 1214C thru F) includes the following types: beads, inlays, crescents, an effigy shark (?), razor sharp flake knives, an axe-shaped pendant, duck’s head pendants, and a spatula shaped pendant. This fine burnished redware Pre-Columbian pipe (LLL1148) was found in West Mexico by the late Lynn Langdon in the mid-20th century. Measuring 6 ľ” in length, and glued together in two places, with good restoration of the cracks, the pipe is a classic example of the Tarascan style dating c.1200-1500AD.
