This superb Roman bronze is a bust of the goddess Minerva. This complete piece is approximately 4.5 inches high, and dates circa 1st century A.D. This beautiful piece is a much better example than what is normally seen, and is a complete intact example. This attractive piece is also in superb condition, save for a small dent at the tip of the nose. Rare ancient pottery bowl used as a strainer in ancient times. Manufactured in Egypt during Roman occupation, ca. 1st century BC/AD. Hemispherical vessel drilled with series of 44 holes and covered in glaze now mostly missing. 4-1/2"D, single repaired break, else excellent.
Very fine example! Ancient Roman oil lamp, dating to the 1st to 2nd centuries AD. Terracotta example with rounded body, simple oblong nozzle and handle with large hole, all once covered in browning pigment. Central decoration of what appears to be twin torches shown lit and emitting fire or smoke. 3-3/4"L, intact and excellent.
Wonderfully expressive! Ancient terracotta statue, dating to the 1st century AD. Quite possibly a member of the royal family, this is a statuette of a young female or goddess, shown wearing thin gown exposing one breast and soft pudgy body, with rounded face, large rolled collar/necklace, wavy hair braided around the perimeter of the head and feathered appendages on each side, one side now missing.
