This is a very fine, rare example of holyland pottery dating to the Iron Age II Phase, circa 1000 - 900 BC. Formed with a bulbous, spherical body and tapered, long neck, the handle attached at the centre of the body and the centre of the neck. Typically, this type of juglet is rendered in burnished blackware, and this one is made from tan, redware. This piece is not wheel-thrown, but, rather, it's hand hewn, using the technique of forming the vessel entirely by hand. Condition: Perfect. No losses whatsoever, with good adhesions and evidence of age obvious. Measures: 3" tall. Comes with it's own display stand, as this piece does not sit upright on it's own. Provenance provided to purchaser. |
