This lovely and diminuitive amulet is rendered in blue-glazed faience and represents Shu, God of Air. Dates to the Late Period in Egyptian history, circa 664 - 332 BC. Condition: Excellent. Some tiny losses to the glaze over the millenia, but survives in excellent condition. Measures: 16 mm in length. ABOUT SHU: In the pantheon of Egyptian deities, Shu was the son of Re-Atum-Khepri, or, the Sun. He was the brother and husband of Tefnet, or heat. He was the God of Air, who symbolized the vital breath of life. Provenance of this item provided to purchaser. |
