LARGE GILA REDWARE OLLA, SALADO, ARIZONA

An impressive 11 ¾” in height and approximately 12 ½” in diameter, this long-necked olla (GLC507) is from the Gene Lang estate. Glued together with no significant restoration and the cracks untouched, the piece was typed by Lang as a Gila Plain dating c.300-1345AD from the Salado sub-group in Arizona. This is an inexpensive olla that would make a great decorator on a high shelf or nook and a great ‘type’ piece. It comes with a small display card, a grapevine ring to set the bowl upon, a release certificate stating that the bowl is not in violation of any laws, and a biographical sketch about Gene Lang.
