| OUR CONSIGNER WILL CONSIDER AN OFFER for this charming 2 ½” tall, three-note ceramic ocarina, in the pleasing shape of an owl (AJC107) and attributed to the Post-Classic Maya dating c.900-1500AD. Wearing a trophy head around its neck and that hangs flatly on its puffed chest, the ocarina’s mouth piece had to be cleaned of caked clay in order for it to emit its previously hidden resonant tones. In overall good condition, and even with a slightly damaged left ‘ear’ and wing, the owl still displays well. From a local collection whose owner purchased the ocarina at the former All Nations Coin Shop in Denver, it comes with a small display card, a map of Central America that illustrates the extent of Mayan rule, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring to either the Trocadero Item Number (836818) in the upper left portion of this page, or to this item’s unique Inventory Number, AJC107. Note: if you would like to view an even larger number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our popular ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ All items in the groups of twelve that have been sold will be so noted on their individual photographs. | |||||||||||||
