| Attributed to the Mesa Verde period, c.1200-1300AD, this 3 1/8” tall miniature black-on-white pitcher (AJC106) is painted with geometric maze design. Found on private lands in southwestern Colorado and purchased years ago by our discriminating consigner from a well-known Native American Arts dealer in Durango, the little treasure made it to this page without repair. With no effort to hide either its convincing signs of age or the surface alteration caused by countless weather cycles, I’d characterize it as being in overall fairly good condition. Neither the chipped and abraded rim, nor the light pitting, nor the few areas of weak paint, nor even the light shrinkage cracking have significantly affected the little vessel’s stability or display potential. The pitcher comes with a small descriptive card, our guarantee of authenticity, and a release stating that it was acquired legally and is not in violation of any laws.
