A Holy Land terracotta bowl excavated in Israel and dated 1st - 3rd century AD, the Roman Period. The bowl measures 16.2 cm in diameter and 4.1 cm high. The clay is an orange color with a red slip and there are two almost invisible cracks and two chips on the rim. There is a low ring base and shipping is free. The bowl is in very good condition. Terracotta means baked clay and this type of pottery was used extensively throughout the ancient world. Oil lamps, plates and pitchers were in daily use and aside from being very essential household items they were also frequently utilized as funerary objects.
