EGYPTIAN FAIENCE BEAD EARRINGS - FREE SHIPPING
Pretty Egyptian faience bead earrings on a modern sterling setting measuring 2.35 cm and dated ca. 500 BC, the 26th Dynasty of the Late Dynastic Period, also known as the Saite Period. These beads, excavated in Egypt, are round and tubular and are in excellent condition. The earrings are completely wearable.

Faience beads were mostly fabricated for use in making a shroud for the linen wrapping of a mummy. Hence, they are frequently referred to as "mummy beads". These beads were also used for jewelry pieces.

Faience is an inexpensive ceramic paste made from crushed quartz and is thought to be a forerunner of glass. The process was known from before 3000 BC and the recipe was a closely guarded secret.
