EGYPTIAN NEW KINGDOM STEATITE SCARAB - FREE SHIPPING
An unglazed Egyptian steatite scarab excavated in Egypt and dated 1550 - 1010 BC, the New Kingdom. The scarab measures 1.35 cm and is in excellent condition. The drill-hole is completely plugged and there is a trace of red paint on various sections of the item. The face is unmarked and the details are quite clear. Shipping is free.

The scarab is so-called because it was made in the shape of the sacred scarab beetle which personified Khepri, a sun god associated with resurrection. This was a common type of ring bezel, amulet or stamp seal found in Egypt, Nubia and Syria-Palestine.
