| Relics of the Nile is proud to offer this outstanding and rare Syrian Cylinder Seal. This piece comes from the period circa 1,850 - 1,650 B.C. The rollout of the seal depicts a very detailed scene. The scene includes a walking figure with an animal behind. Possibly a herdsman or a hunter. This style is derived from the Mesopotamian repertoire. The figures are facing left as was typical from the Ur III period onward. The detail in the scene is amazing. It is in choice condition with excellent patina. The length is 1" and the diameter is 3/8"! The size of the rollout is 3" x 1.25"! The scene on this seal is in amazing, very clear condition. This can be seen on the rollout. No restoration and a nice display. This example is Syrian and a similar serpentine example is seen in the Marcopoli collection #465. | ||
