| Magnificent ancient Egyptian Sarcophagus Panel. This is a finely detailed piece with many colors. 26th Dynasty (664 - 525 B.C.). This piece has several significant attributes. First, the scene is very detailed with a large depiction of the standing Isis. Isis is depicted wearing a superbly colored dress, with her typical ROYAL BLUE skin tone. Above her head is the solar disc. On either side of Isis are finely created lotus flowers. The lotus was an important symbol in ancient Egypt and was depicted on funerary items in many ways because of its symbolism of rebirth. The scene has colors of red, white, black, yellow, brown, and the brilliant turqoise blue. There has been some very minor loss to the gesso, but otherwise it is in extremely fine condition, especially for its age! This is a large piece measuring approximately 5 feet tall and 15 inches wide. The peg holes are still in excellent condition. These were used to attach this panel to the side, bottom, and top panels of the sarcophagus. Very fine amounts of gesso remain. Very good condition. Minor repair to middle, but the piece is in excellent condition. Displays beautifully! | ||
