An excellent Maya jar from the Peten region of Guatemala, ca. 500 – 800 AD. It is 5” in diameter, 4” high and is decorated with appliqué pebbles, designed to mimic a young Ceibal tree. The burnished tips of these nubs and highly burnished rim band create an interesting contrast with the rest of the surface. In perfect condition, with good mineral deposits and root marks. Museum deaccession. |
