Luristan Bronze Offering Cup

From ancient Luristan (present-day western Iran), ca 1000 to 800 B.C. Miniature Bronze Ceremonial Cup, reminiscent of the Ryton form often found in pottery and in larger bronze examples. With horned head of an ibex or mouflon, front legs outstretched and small shot-glass sized cup. Cross-hatching still remaining on portion of top rim. 2-1/8"L x 1-1/2"H, intact and choice.

PROVENANCE: Ex-private Canadian Collection, ex-Arte Primitivo Gallery and ex-Joseph Rose Collection.
