Very rare and important ancient Pre-Columbian Moche I Stirrup Vessel, early example, ca 200 A.D. Depicting a seated lord or shaman, in burnished blackware pottery; legs crossed, he is wearing a short loin-cloth and large-brimmed hat; forehead with deep-incised tattooing. Eyes and arm-bands inlaid with shell and lapis lazuli, pure gold crescent ring suspended from nose. 6-3/8"H, intact/choice condition, save re-attachment of spout.
