Rare this nice! Although just a fragment, this is one of the finer ancient Valdivian Venus figures we have seen in some time! From Ecuador, ca 3500 - 2000 BC (some of the earliest pottery to be found in this area). Standing female figure, most likely a fertility offering, with parted hair in an almost Page-boy cut, large breasts and stippling to represent pubis. Figure covered in deep red pigment, hair in black. 3"H, not including custom mount. Excellent condition with nice deposits. PROVENANCE: Ex-private European Collection. Authenticity Guaranteed |
