Here you find a full moon cradled in a crescent moon. From a large statue of Thoth. Dates to the Late Period, DYNASTY XXVI-XXX, 664-343 B.C. It is pale green in color with some mineral deposits. Measure 1 3/4 inches high. Provenance: Collected by Gustave Jéquier (1868-1946). Authentication: Gayle Gibson, Egyptologst: Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. Thoth is very closely associated with the calculation of time in specific and arithmetic in general ... As a lunar god, he was responsible for completing the moon during its cycle, that is to say, to make sure that time passes as it is supposed to. -- Jacques Kinnaer |
