| Pre-Dynastic Wavy-Handled Vessel, Naqada II ca 3500-3300BC Tall, shouldered jar with a small, flat base; two long, thin wavy handles project outward from the sides of the vessel and a thin, rounded rim caps a shallow neck. Through the study of wavy-handled jars such as this one, archaeologists were able to piece together the sequence dating system that forms the basis for much of our knowledge of the Pre-dynastic period. The inspiration for their tall, shouldered shape probably came from Early Bronze Palastine and many of these jars are occasionally found with the remains of their ancient contents still inside: ointments, perfumed oils and other products for which their shape was especially well suited. CONDITION: Intact and in very good condition overall minor hairline crack to rim, used to store honey which can still be detected. Dimension: 7" | ||
