One of the most sought after examples of Anasazi pottery are the scarce and very distinctive water jugs of Mesa Verde. This example is quite large measuring 16” wide, 13” deep and 11” tall. The design is executed in a bold black negative design against a gray slip and the neck exhibits an unusual corrugation. The clay is quite thick and the pot is heavy delivering a very sturdy jug which was necessary in order to carry a large amount of water without damage. Broken and glued with about 17% restoration. From the collection of Chris Robinson assembled in the late 1970's. A RELEASE AND DISCLOSURE, WITH PICTURE, IS PROVIDED STATING THE CONDITION, APPROXIMATE AGE AND THAT POSSESSING IT IS NOT IN VIOLATION OF ANY FEDERAL, STATE OR LOCAL LAWS. EX. CHRIS ROBINSON |
